CONCERTO participated in the CMIP Community Workshop 2026, held in Kyoto, Japan, from 9 to 13 March 2026, bringing together the international climate modelling community to discuss the latest developments in Earth system modelling, climate projections and the future direction of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP). The workshop provided a platform for researchers, infrastructure providers and stakeholders to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaborations and explore emerging scientific challenges in climate research.

During the workshop, Stefano Materia (Barcelona Supercomputing Center, BSC) presented the poster "Historical Reconstruction and Future Projection of Land Use, Land Cover and Leaf Area Index." The research contributes to improving the representation of land surface characteristics that play a fundamental role in terrestrial carbon cycle modelling and Earth system simulations, closely aligning with CONCERTO's objective of reducing uncertainties through improved Earth observation and modelling approaches.

By presenting its research at one of the leading international forums for the climate modelling community, CONCERTO contributed to scientific discussions on land surface processes and their representation in next-generation climate models. The event also provided valuable opportunities to exchange ideas with researchers from around the world, strengthen collaborations within the Earth system modelling community, and increase the visibility of CONCERTO's scientific contributions.
